The single biggest complaint about living in an apartment is the lack of space. Most apartments are just part of a larger building, and because space is money, they are often designed to be as small as possible but still accommodate the needs of the occupants.
This means that when it comes to decor, you’ll have to use a little skill, ingenuity and strategy to make the most of whatever space you have available.
The first mistake you need to avoid is buildup. You want your decorative efforts to span the space, with the levels of decor evenly distributed throughout the different rooms. Don’t focus all your efforts on a particular kitchen, or living room, or space, to the detriment of others.
Creative organization can also give you extra space. Get plastic tubs and keep your things under sofas and beds, and pile in closets. This will allow you to leave an open area open for decorative options, rather than requiring it to be used for more mundane storage needs.
Use the right color
Color is another element that you can use to at least create the appearance of space in a room. Darker tones will tend to contract the space, making it feel smaller and more congested.
While lighter colors will tend to open up space, giving the impression of being wider and more luxurious. It can be used effectively in the selection of wallpaper and paint colors when decorating a small apartment room.
Do not exaggerate
Even if you want your room to look beautiful, make sure you don’t overdo it. Clutter is the worst thing you can create when you have limited space.
This tends to make larger rooms appear small and disorganized, and can lead to irrational thoughts and mental patterns for those living in such conditions.
